We’re achieving this by building an extensive network of supporters and mentors who will ensure teens in foster care have the necessary tools, opportunities, and support, while also reducing the number of teens choosing to age out of the system early.

Our Founder
Abi Santmyer founded Forj with a deep passion for supporting teens in the foster care system. Drawing from years of experience in social work, public health, and community development, she envisioned a program that offers more than just temporary relief—she wanted to build lasting change. Her dedication has created a network of compassionate mentors and a safe space for foster teens to thrive.
This organization was named "for James," a teen Abi helped foster at a formative time. She believes every teen deserves a future filled with people who care for their interests and safety, and is working tirelessly to make that a reality for James and other young people in foster care.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a world where every teen in the foster care system feels valued, supported, and prepared for the future. We aim to foster strong connections, build resilience, and help these young individuals achieve their full potential as they transition into adulthood. By preventing early aging out, we strive to reduce any risks threatening a fulfilling future.
